Through my Eyes

Killdeer

I have always been fascinated by this bird's behavior. If their nest is threatened, the adult "feigns injury, hobbling along with wings dragging as if badly wounded," according to my National Audubon Society Field Guide. No nest in sight, so this guy didn't try to fool me! Adult killdeer have a double breast band, but the juvenile only has one, so I think my identification is correct, but if not, please advise! I like the rusty tips of the feathers in closeup view.
