Chrissie Wellington, an inspirational athlete

I was up loads in the night with a croupy William, even getting in bed with him at one point, just so I could get some sleep. So when my alarm went off before 7am I wasn't overly impressed, particularly as it was still raining.

Carys and I were dropped at the station at 7.45 and we headed into London to watch the Women's World Triathlon Series Final in Hyde Park. We got there just as they transitioned to the bike and I got some half decent shots. Carys wearing my large Welsh flag like a cloak, seemed to attract friendly people who wanted to chat.

We watch the bike stage from the gates of Hyde Park, so we saw them go out and come back quite quickly. We then moved to close to the turning point of the run and hung the flag over the barriers. Daddy spotted it and us on the tv coverage. We were lucky enough to watch Non Stanford win the race and in the process the series. Jodie Stimson finished 4th in the race but 2nd in the series. Well done ladies.

At Trafalgar Square Carys did the kids triathlon which consisted of 500m bike ride, 20 speed bounces and then (for a laugh) dressing up and undressing to simulate transition. She managed it in the second fastest time of the day for an under 10, the girl who beat her by 6seconds was 9! She got a proper medal and certificate for her efforts.

Then we went to the main stage so that Mummy could listen to Chrissie Wellington talk. She is amazing, such an inspirational woman, 4x world ironman champion. After she came down to chat to people. She had a lovely chat with Carys, signed her certificate and told her to be the best she could be and now Carys has a new mantra: Try your best and never give up.
