Where The Mountain Casts its Shadow

I borrowed this title from a friend, Maria Coffey, who wrote about death in the mountains from the point of view of the families left behind.

Mont Blanc 4,810m on the border between Italy and France, is a killer mountain particularly as it tempts people with little experience of altitude, cold and real mountaineering, to summit it, as its easiest route is not technically difficult.

To look at it from a distance in the early morning light, you can understand why but, with the sheer numbers that go up it these days, sadly, it cannot be a wonderful place on top any more!
