I prefer it when

what you really had for breakfast
and how you really feel today.

You could keep all that
for your private diary
couldn’t you?

I’m wary and weary
of knowing too much.
I like not having a clue
what you’re really up to

which means that
every now and again
you can hit me
with something so true
it’ll make my eyes water
and my soul sing

but, even then,
I won’t really know

or keeping it real.
