The First Rule of Rugby Club

After last night’s amazing gig I spent most of the morning recovering and catching up on some sleep, my ears are still ringing though. Lol! I had a great surprise in the post this morning though, when I received a signed copy of the Manic’s new CD, Rewind the Film. If last night was anything to go by, it should be a good listen.

And we’re finally off as the new rugby season started officially, our first game was at home against long-time rivals Llanelli. There is always a sense of optimism at the start of the season, and with so many changes to our club since last season it felt like a new start and a chance to put behind the misery of last season. And for the first half things were going really well for us, as we frustrated Llanelli and built an impressing lead 16-6 at half time.

Sadly we fell off in the second half and couldn’t win any ball, and the first rule of rugby club is that without the ball you’re going to struggle to win a rugby match. It was practically a repeat of our earlier game against Bridgend, and left us all feeling very disappointed as we know we could, and perhaps should have won that game.

But hope is not lost; there were signs that if things start to click a good season could be ahead. Particular mention to our fullback Ceri Young who picked up an injury very early in the game but soldiered on and he still looked dangerous with pace to burn. So ok we’ve lost our first game, lets write it off and learn from our mistakes, I still believe in you! Neath! Neath! Neath!
