Argiope aurantia

Known around here as the "writing spider" this is the best time of year to see them She's about an inch long on the body with about a 3 inch leg-span. I asked but she wouldn't sit still while I got her vital statistics with a caliper :)
One or our most colorful spiders hereabouts.
