A church ?

Did an early morning walk on my own near the Bosmuseum in the Sonian Forest this morning.

These are the remains of the church that belonged to the priory of Groenendaal.
You may not recognise it as a church, but this is because the church was half destroyed in 1787, when the priory was abolished. A monk successfully stopped the total destruction.
So what you're seeing is the bottom half of the original church, the first chapel was consecrated in 1344. When prior and monks wanted to re-establish the priory in 1793 they immediately started to renovate the church. Unfortunately only two years later the French took over the country, closed the priory and made a stable and other service buildings in the former church.
It's looking very derelict now and no sign it's being maintained even though
the remains of the former priory are protected since 1998.
