Apple Juice production line

Some 3 weeks later than usual the annual juicing of the apples from our garden begins. Over the years we've perfected a method to pick over, core, juice and settle the juice in a large pastic water container which will then sit in the fridge for 24 hours while all the sediment sinks to the bottom. It'll then be drained into 2 pint milk bottles and frozen for drinking during the winter.

You've seen shots of the apple tree over the year - from blossom to fruit, now you're looking at one of the products - it is a most delightful juice, pink and sweet and it retains its colour throughout the winter.

We'll probably make a couple of gallons of the stuff, but that is just about 5% of what this great old tree provides. I wish I had the equipment to chop and squeeze apples and try making cider but the kit is expensive to buy or hire. Something for the future maybe?
