Friday 13th - making the most of a poor day

Heavy rain overnight so we awoke to dull, dank, misty conditions for the last early morning walk of the holiday. A 5 mile, there and back, stroll along the Coastal Path from Lusty Glaze to Watergate Bay. Into the wind and drizzle going but much better on the way back. Not much to see, but there was no way we were not going to do a walk.

Overall we walked some 25 miles in the week as well as pushing a wheelchair around, so we got our exercise which ever way you look at it.

We'd heard of Trago Mills as being a shopping outlet. The nearest one was in Falmouth so we decided to return to the town to pay a visit to this emphorium. We need not have bothered, it was dire. Enough said.

And the rains came down. We repaired to the Oggy Pasty shop, recipient of some award or other and while the others were sensible and had sandwiches I tried one of their award winning pasties to compare it with a wonderful pasty we'd had from the butcher's in the village. While nice, the Oggy pasty was not in the same league as the butcher's offering.

A trip down a pedestrianised shopping street was marred by narrow pavements, vehicles passing along and heavy rain. Falmouth was not at its best today. But we looked at a few galleries and other shops and called it a day.

On the way back to the car I saw that the cruise liner that had been in dock when we arrived was leaving port and so provided me with a blip subject. A quick look on the internet showed that the Silver Whisper was bound for Dublin having arrived in Falmouth from Portsmouth that morning. By looking again later we could see the exact position of the vessel as it made its way to Dublin.

So ended our last day in Cormwall.
