A busy day

- walked Jasper to the Mas and left him there while
- we took the car to Gandesa to have the oil leak fixed
- which took a long time because the garage man was out on a job so
- we walked around Gandesa for two and half hours, Steve with his bad knees and me with my tired legs although
- we had two refreshment stops and several people-watching/leg-resting stops and
- bought a pair of harem pants (am I too old for them) and a lettuce off the market and
- then went around the Battle of the Ebre museum until
- the phone rang to say the car was ready then
- we drove to Pinell de Brai and had a look at the outside of the Catedral del Vi before
- having lunch at Ca l'Angel (11.50 euros for four courses including wine, although we just had water) then on the way back to the Mas
- we picked up a man (we thought he was a woman until we'd stopped!) who wanted a lift to our village so we dropped him off at the outskirts before
- making a cuppa at the Mas before Steve drove and Jasper and I walked back to the village.
Phew!

We were in two minds about the hitch-hiker and Steve probably wouldn't have stopped if I hadn't said "Stop, it's a woman!", but most people are not sex-crazed-axe-murderers! I'm not sure if it isn't illegal to hitch-hike in Spain though... He'd been on the road for about ten months and had travelled mainly on foot down from Manresa in the north looking for work. I believe that unemployment benefit in Spain only lasts for two years maximum and after that you're stuffed, or on the road.
