Twelve Days Early

Michaelmas falls on the 29th September so these Michaelmas Daisies are a little early.

However, in this afternoon's brightening sunshine, they were proving to be a magnet for insects. They were absolutely smothered with hoverflies - mostly the two types seen here - as well as half a dozen small white butterflies!
That dronefly seems to have a naturally red eye as no flash was used in the taking of this image.
