Goodbye to all this....

Last day of the holiday but tour pick-up is not until 5.15pm so we are spending the day by the pool and Margaret made a trip to the shops as all our Tunisian currency has to be used up before going to the airport as you are not supposed to take it out of the country with you.

So how has the all- inclusive gone as a holiday as it was our first time. Normally we self-cater. It's certainly a massive temptation to break any dietary regime your might have been following. The food has been on the whole tasty and well presented with massive of choice and as you are self-serving there's a tendency to fill your plate and try everything that appeals. Mind you after a couple of days you have to cut back because the stomach or the bowels are complaining. We did go out for the occasional meal at a well-recommended fish restaurant down at Port El Kantaoui Marina and tried the Tunisian Restaurant in the hotel for a couple of other meals. So all in all food wise its been a success.

Booze and cocktails were also available in demand and we definitely drank more than we usually do but never to excess as the drinks are slightly mild or watered down and you only get small glasses but this was a novel and not too unhealthy experience. The Tunisian wine, however, is definitely not something to write home about

As this was supposed to be a relaxing holiday we only made two or three trips out and didn't hire a car as we usually do but the trips were enjoyable and well chosen.

Photographically it wasn't such a good trip as I have only taken about half the number of shots I would usually take on holiday but there were one or two places I really enjoyed and could have stayed all day. The typical Tunisian house in Sidi Boo Said was certainly the highlight.

All-in-all it was a relaxing and remarkably cheap holiday as most of food and drink were covered so we did not spend anything like our normal holiday expenses and will go home with a lot if our cash unspent. Well worth trying.

Tunisia seems to be remarkably stable despite the recent revolution and has certainly managed to keep its tourist industry stable and growing by the number of new builds around.
