Is this a steam train? No! It's a tram!

As well as fresh air, fun and entertainment, Blackpool is also noted for –
a. Its world famous tower
b. Its illuminations – a six mile (10K) display of colourful, decorative lighting that stretches along the sea front from Starr Gate in the south to Bispham in the north, a display which uses over a million electric light bulbs and which is visited by many thousands of visitors each year.
c. Its three Piers
d. Its Pleasure Beach – a huge area of breath taking rides and fun entertainments AND
e. Its trams.
The tram system runs from Starr Gate along the seafront all the way to Fleetwood. Recent extensive investment has updated the original system, with relaid tracks and swish modern trams. But the vintage trams still run on special heritage days, celebrations and during the illuminations, which run annually from the end of August to the beginning of November. Several specially decorated vintage trams run the route both to entertain and to carry visitors all the way along the illumination route. There are several different traditional trams running the route. This steam train simulation is one such.
Tonight we went out specifically to photograph the tower, which is usually beautifully lit during the illumination period. But would you believe it? The lights were on the blink, stuck in limbo, half on and half off!
