Nero

We went to the Houston Aquarium today, & in addition to some 500,000 gallons of marine life, they also have 4 white tigers. The one we saw today was Nero, who we watched being put through some of his training. They use hand signals to get him to sit, to raise up on his back legs, & to lay down. Nero is rewarded with steak every time he does it right. The trainers are not inside the enclosure with him--they give him the signals through the glass & he comes to the glass & does what they ask. They reinforce this several times a day, & the purpose is so that when the tigers need to be examined, they'll obey commands that will allow the staff to get close enough to examine them. I would NOT want to be Nero's vet!! :)
