Lucky Number 7

My wife bought her first iPhone the day after they were first launched - or technically two days after, because it was at 1am Sunday morning in the 24 hour Fifth Avenue Apple Store. Since then, between us we've had every iteration, alternating each year. Today's launch of iOS 7 marks a huge shift in design. Bright, flat, colourful, familiar yet completely disorientating. A mobile phone is so personal - rapidly having become one of the small number of items that people always carry with them - that it's like an old friend turning up in a wig, false nose and spectacles. And clown shoes.
