Clown Barbecue

I like photos that tell a story.

The Barnum & Bailey Circus train rolled into Grand Rapids yesterday. I can imagine a clown in full make-up coming out the door of this railroad car and stepping down the stairs on his way to the arena. Or, a group of circus performers sitting around the smokey grill making hotdogs. For me, it captures both the spirit of freedom and despair of a tough life on the road.

About The Show:

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents Built To Amaze! , the 143rd edition of the Greatest Show On Earth. Surprise and wonder delights audiences with over the top feats of strength, agility and courage.

Circus performers from across the globe create the perfect blend of athleticism and bravery, where power meets fearlessness and amazement has no bounds. Magnificent elephants, ferocious tigers, astonishing acrobats and awe-inspiring aerialists are engineered into one spectacular performance.

After the mix of marvel and majesty in a circus show where the impossible comes to life, the performers come home, sit in these lawn chairs and have a smokey barbecue and a can of beer. Their friends walking alongside the tracks to the railroad cars they live in may sit down and join them.
