The Pevensie Dilemma

By PevensieDilemma

Let's Go!

I'm en route to Edinburgh this evening after spending the day working in London.

Trusting my connection home will be a slick affair.

It's super dark outside as the train journeys between the few key stations remaining.

The Division Bell is playing loudly on my iPod. It's possibly my favourite recording of all time if I'm honest (and I usually am!)

Lyrically, the main theme is around communication - maybe that's why I love it so much.

Musically, it is laced with the pure genius of Pink Floyd - perhaps with a *less heavy* feel than its predecessors.

You should go buy it if its not already in your collection - you won't be disappointed!

I hovered on the balcony at Kings Cross station this evening.

People watching is a favourite activity of mine.

There was little communication between the many people navigating the station concourse.

Everyone was too busy - too pre-occupied by a need to get to where they needed to be.

There were some people in groups but in the main, folks were going it alone.

I watched the occasional bout of non verbal communication as individuals did the awkward 'we're going to walk into one another - let's avoid that by using a casual side step - oops we stepped the same way dance' - highly amusing interactions!

It was those communications heard over the loud speaker that got the most attention. Many responded by hurtling themselves toward the train platform, luggage and children in tow!

When we need to get from one place to another, our focus is on the journey and the destination.

We know the direction we'll take and the stops we might need.

We understand that there might be some connections which will involve waiting...

We stay alert for new information that might affect our journey - or cause us to have to change our route or our plans unexpectedly.

Do we always apply the same focus when the journey isn't physical?

Do we always understand the route we must take when getting from A to B means a shift in our emotions or behaviours?

Perhaps the directional change is in our personal lives - or our careers.

What are your travel plans, friend?
