Put the cat among the chickens

We delivered Maddy to Chloe's today as Chloe was desperate for her to stay the night. When we were there we headed out to see the chickens. Smokey really doesn't know what to make of them it seems. Apparently he's regularly bringing small birds and mammals in as presents but is giving the chickens a very wide berth.

On bird related subjects we got a rude awakening today. Maddy cameinto the room before eight saying that Mushroom had brought a pigeon into her room but it was just about dead. She went back through to her room as I was wakening myself up. It turned out though it was not nearly as close to death as she thought, nor was it a pigeon. The next thing a startled looking magpie flew into our room landed on the curtain rail and started making that horrible rattling noise they make.

After a minute or two it flew out andf smacked into the wall on the stairs. My mum was up at this poin as she's staying just now and she managed to usher it out the livingroom window. We thought that was the end of it but the next thing it flew straight into the back fence, landed on the ground and Bootsy jumped on it. It didmanage to evade him and get away.

To be honest I had mixed feelings as I don't like the cats killing birds but magpies are horrible things that take baby birds out of the hedges near us.

I can confirm the whole one for sorrow thing to be true though as I was wanting a long lie.
