Break through by Geraint O'Driscoll @godriscoll10

Newport's first home game of the season. Todays visitors were Llanelli, one of West Wales finest.

After a great start by Newport the pressure was on, at half time the score line was 10-09. The second half didn't go the same way after a lot of pressure from Llanelli the tide turned. Llanelli found themselves 2 scores in front. Newport started to exert pressure, but often making simple mistakes to stop the flow. eventually the ball was dropped by Llanelli and Tyler Morgan kicked on for Newport. It was all down to a foot race against the Llanelli Number 8, Tyler pulled away when the defender decided to take him out with an early tackle, penalty try.

With minutes to go there was 1 point in it, Newport again exerted pressure. But in exerting pressure mistakes were sure to follow. The ball was in the hands of Ashton Hewitt, as he accelerated with the ball he was caught by a defending player, as he tried to release the ball it ended up in the wrong hands. The result was a sprint the wrong way, Llanelli scored in the corner but didnt convert. So a losing bonus point was the only thing Newport managed to get out of this fixture.
