Bibimbap

This is the real deal, served up in a hot stone bowl so the rice etc continues to cook while you eat: hence the wooden box so you don't burn yourself!

Went for a belated birthday meal with my sister and brother in law at Wokooshii in the Trafford Centre, and had this, which is probably my favourite Korean restaurant dish (I can do an imitation at home but you need the hot stone bowl to get the full experience).

I slightly regret not taking a photo of it before mixing: it comes with the meat and vegetables nicely arranged on top of the steamed rice, with a fried egg in top. They then pour over the hot pepper sauce and mix it at the table, with a lovely sizzling sound and lots of steam and delicious smells. The bowl is coated on the inside with sesame oil before the rice and veg are added, and some of the rice scorches and becomes crunchy as you eat. Yummy! Largely obscured by the box is some kimchi and a potato side dish we shared (the others had bokkeumbap: fried rice).
