Things are looking up...

Backblip - we were out of internet access up at Commonground last night

Wow, what a day! We woke up and decided to just get on with the day, so we got everything ready for heading up to Commonground for the night and went for a coffee before going to Ikea (gasp! on a Saturday!) to have a butcher's at the kitchens and bathrooms for some reno ideas. We even managed to escape the dreaded 'market place' with only a single purchase (6 champagne glasses for $2!? We couldn't resist!).

We then head over to Faye and Lewis' place for lunch... with them off to NZ and Fiji for a few weeks, it was good to have a prelim catch up before they set off.

Then we drove up to Commonground for our friend Glen's 69th birthday celebration.

Glen is one of the founders of Commonground, doula, mediator, social activist and an extremely wise and compassionate lady. She found out recently that she has terminal cancer. This news sent shockwaves through our community and filled an extraordinary amount of people with a feeling of sadness.

Glen, being who she is, has been travelling all over the place since to make sure that she gets as much done as possible (including writing another book... her autobiography). She decided that she wanted to have a good old shindig and invited, certainly not all, but lots of her friends to celebrate what may be her last birthday.

It was an extremely enjoyable, emotional and poignant celebration of the life of an extraordinary lady. We felt privileged to have been invited.

I hope that I get invited back for her 70th.

I took many, many photos, but they're not for blipsters eyes, I'm afraid, so you get another one of the Goblin looking all doe eyed. He's cleared his virus, stopped teething (so the seemingly endless drooling has let up a bit), and we only need to wipe his nose every 20 minutes now. He's been in an amazing mood. Things are looking up.
