Shocking

When i started at sea, i started in the lowest rank you can imagine. Nevertheless, i was quite shocked to learn that cleaning toilets, windows, showers was my department from that moment on. At home you had your mother to do that and I had never realized before that that is hard work too. We're not sparing our highly educated apprentices in this, not because we want to learn them a lesson, but they need that experience for proper workplanning later in their career. They need to learn all aspects of this profession, from the lowest part up to the responsibility as captain or chief engineer. That's why you see our apprentice Jort washing the bridge windows. He's sweating and that's good. Hope that his mother sees this picture.
