A Reefed Mainsail

When there is a lot of wind, it is possible to reduce the surface of the mainsail on the clipper.
By fastening a strip of the foot of the mainsail with the reef lines it is possible to reduce the surface from 165 square meters to just 140 square meters. This is called Reef One.
There is also a Reef Two and a Reef Three, making the sails even more smaller.

When reefed, it is possible to create a more efficient situation for increasing your speed. Sometimes you can sail faster by reefing your sails. Important to know during our races.
