Birch Fungus

Seven to Seven 85
The birch fungus called Birch killer, is a fungus, and grows on the trunk of a tree. It usually grows on birch. Hence the name birch fungus.

He begins as a parasite on the trunk (rover). This means that he uses the birch as food. Therefore the tree dies. If this tree is dead, the fungus lives for years to continue as scavenger. This means that the birch fungus then feeds itself from of old wood and rotten leaves.

The birch fungus contains substances that are today used for medical applications. Previously, for example, these mushrooms are used to sterilize knives.
