Homegrown Runner Beans

The pods of yesterdays harvest carried a nice surprise, since we did forget what kind of beans they were.
It was the Phaseolus coccineus, known as runner bean, scarlet runner bean, or multiflora bean, a plant in the Fabaceae family. Runner beans have also been called "Oregon Lima Bean", in Spanish "ayocote" or in Dutch 'Stiense Pronkboon".
When the pods are young and not bigger than a few centimeters, you can eat the pods just like snow peas or sugar snaps. When the pods are full grown (about 20-30 centimeters), then you can take out the beans and eat them.

I don't know how they will taste, so I will find out this week!
