To Deal with the Greasy Bits

To those that stand on the canal tow path and watch the magnificent sight of passing narrow boats it may not be apparent that a certain amount of boat maintenance is required.

Usually this involves just checking that the propeller is clear of debris and greasing its stern gland.

However on this occasion you can see that there has been a slight problem in that there is weed entangled in the propeller. It has to be removed before the boat will move properly.

Mind you, I am glad it was only weed wrapped around the propeller because on one occasion we picked up anorak or similar article of clothing.

That was very difficult to remove.
