Chichester Cathedral

We were at Chichester Cathedral for the lunchtime concert, an organ recital, and to see a sculpture exhibition. The organist was a young student, Edward Picton-Turbervill (and there's a name to conjure with) who attends St John's College. He is absolutely wonderful, though I prefer the Bach preludes to the more modern pieces. The great thing was there were mirrors and a video screen set up so we could watch his feet as he played. Amazing - dexterity. Can you have dexterity with your feet? It appealed to me that he wore unmatched socks, one bright green, one red. Good for him.
The sculpture, with the theme of pilgrimage, sounded more interesting than it was.

Near the west door stands the most beautiful font I’ve seen anywhere, made from dark green polyphant and beaten copper. Above it is this lovely ceiling and tower. I was torn which to show you, but the angle of this pic won out. They kindly provide a mirror so you don’t have to crane your neck to view it, but sadly it didn’t work for a photo. Crick in the neck it is, then….

Looks incredible in Large!

Another gorgeous hot day.
