Benachie Sunset

Tonight we have returned to being the land of mist and rain.
Autumn looms and the leaves are preparing to turn.

I talked yesterday about my commission for images of Benachie.
This is my first shoot.
Although I think the final images will be shot from much closer
to the hill probably from one of the low hills to the right or North
of the ridge, instead of looking across the valley

This is taken from the Prehistoric hill fort on the Hill of Barra,
outside Old Meldrum.
The hill overlooks the location of the Battle of Barra 1308,
between Robert the Bruce
and John Comyn, 3rd Earl of Buchan.
The Bruce field is in the bottom left corner of the photograph.

The long humpbacked hill, top left is Benachie.
Often speculated as the site of the Battle of Mons Graupius AD83
between Agricola and the Caledonians,
it is more likely the battle took place further south.
