Poised to strike?

A week ago, tomorrow, it looked like this.

Now, at about 4' 6" or 1.5mtr(ish), if you're that way inclined, I still haven't a bleeping clue WTF it is: except that it has a Gladiolus kinda format overall.

As I keep repeating ad nauseam ... We shall see.

"One of us" keeps saying ... "on no account let the plants read the book".
If it is an Acidanthera, it does belong to the genus Gladiolus, but it evidently has NOT read the book. 4' 6" I said it was. I haven't changed my mind. For furriners 4'6" = 54". Acidanthera is quoted as
"The swordlike leaves are about 24 inches tall with blossoms that filled the conservatory with a beautiful scent."
