Apres Steinlen

Most people are probably familiar with the cats drawn by Steinlen of which the best-known is the iconic poster he designed for Parisian nightspot Le Chat Noir, a celebrated cabaret in Montmartre at the end of the 19th century.

As I was taking the washing off the line this evening some of my cats were throwing shapes on the conservatory roof: Look at us - we're Steinlen cats! they said.

Actually none of them is black but at night all cats are... grey?
