Rubbish day

Sunny and quite hot, with vigorous and blustery winds playing havoc with the empty bins after the collection trucks had called. To our north, a Severe Fire Danger rating was declared in much of New South Wales, and an Extreme rating in the Greater Hunter area; we escaped with a High rating, notwithstanding gusts of 98km/h at Ulladulla, 40 minutes up the road. Winds everywhere are expected to die down tonight.

[Update: More than 50 bushfires and grassfires, some out of control, are burning throughout the east of the state, from Sydney north.]

The refusologists among you may be interested to know that the red-topped bins, collected weekly, are for household garbage. The yellow-topped bins are for recycleable stuff and are collected fortnightly, alternating with green-topped bins for garden waste.
