Holy Loch mist

The Holy Loch could have been anywhere in this afternoon's mist. It reminded me of Lake Onega, in Russian Karelia, last Autumn when we were there - the flat calm of the grey water, the boats and land appearing to float above it, the lack of any breeze to disturb the surface. In Russia, however, there were golden trees; here the autumn is not sufficiently far advanced.

I thought the day depressing when I was indoors, but when we were outside it was magical. And how joyous that there is no longer an American nuclear submarine base in our beautiful loch.
