Naked Ladies

I bet that title gets a lot of looks!

These are Autumn Crocus (Colchicum autumnale)
Called "Naked Ladies" because the flowers emerge before the leaves.
(or after the leaves have died down, which ever way you want to put it.)

I just noticed they had suddenly appeared in the garden yesterday.
They don't last long, but are very pretty and delicate for a short while.
Usually get eaten by slugs, but so far this year OK.

After a dull start the sun has broken through, and it is now quite warm.
So we have decided to have our last BBQ this afternoon.
Not sure if we will be eating out side though!
