Volcano

The zig-zag line, top left, is the path leading to the top of the outer crater rim, because what we are looking at is a crater within an older, bigger crater

The walk up the side of the volcano - only half a mile in distance - is steeply uphill all the way (obviously!) over very rough paths and, on the day I did it, in a temperature of 29 degrees. All very character building and dehydrating. We were warned to take plenty of water before we set out.
