Words of Wisdom or a cliche

Saw this outside our local pub today and I thought how apt it was. Poor dad, I argued with everything he said, and rebelled against everything he stood for....And yet I do find myself repeating many of his "old stories" for the supposed benefit of my own children.
We recently found about 50 poems he had written satirising the politics of the early 1980s. At the time I can remember feigning some interest but not a great deal. Having recently re-read them I am completely in awe of his intellect. He never achieved anywhere near his potential, but he continues to influence his children, grand-children and hopefully his great grand-child long after his death.
