The Little America's Cup

The C Class catamaran international championships came to an end today down on Carrick Roads. Sometimes known as the 'Little America's Cup' with it's final places decided by one on one races it provided the inspiration for the big winged cats in the real America's Cup that came to an end in San Francisco last week.

The big boats have returned the favour, showing the way to flying the boats consistently on hydrofoils. The top teams in Falmouth therefore developed hydrofoil, though with a few spills along the way...

The photo above is the inside of the Swiss 'Hydros' team's wing storage marquee, as the wings were being disassembled.

Managed to pop down to have a peek at these high-tech catamarans in the boatpark (as the racing had finished by the time we got down there).
