Technology Fail

With my nice new Mac I thought I'd better get the in-built Time Machine software configured and working with a backup device. Now working for an IT company I get to pick stuff straight from a Disti and get to pay trade price, plus the VAT. So me being me I picked myself out a nice fat 1TB Western Digital NAS to work with my Mac not thinking to look at any mac related forums to check whether it would work.

Well it seems that the mac will mount the disk no problem, but will it "just work" with the Time Machine software - oh bloody no.
So now I have a NAS box that I can't use in the way that Mr Jobs intended.... makes me wonder if I should purchase a time capsule now!
