IMPALA

An engine in steam . . . but which one ?
This weekend sees the anniversary of the Doncaster Locomotive Works – 160 years of building steam engines. To help celebrate, this locomotive was giving free rides along a short stretch of railway in Derbyshire.
This preserved engine has been numbered twice – originally 61264 and now 61002 – and is named Impala.

For the enthusiasts – this is a London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) Thompson Class B1 4-6-0 locomotive, built in 1947. It was designed for medium mixed traffic work and carries the shed plate code 50A of York locomotive depot.

Please have a very grand and enjoyable week.
