Helton Moor

A large expanse of moorland with many walks across it, mysterious stone circles, wild ponies and of course sheep!. You can drive up here and virtually park anywhere. On one side it has the beautiful Haweswater valley and Lowther. On the other side within forty relaxing minutes you can be in Pooley Bridge by Ullswater. Or if you choose to ascend go up to High Street and get into the rough tough stuff. Or simply bring a flask of tea, sandwiches and look out at the view from your car. A very flexible piece of moorland not very touristy.
