Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Caitlin Rose - Dead Flowers (2008)
The Rolling Stones recorded this on their Sticky Fingers album in 1970, when their relationship with Gram Parsons was influencing them towards country music, notably on the song Wild Horses. Mick Jagger wasn't wholly convinced and sang in a slightly detached tongue-in-cheek manner on this song, but it has since been covered by a number of American/Canadian artists including Townes van Zandt, the Cowboy Junkies, Shelby Lynne and Jerry Lee Lewis, but this is probably the best. It was most likely based on Townes van Zandt's version. Caitlin Rose was born in Dallas TX, but settled in Nashville when still a child, and this was from her debut EP.
