Frolicking Poppies

When Californian Poppies reach the end of their day in the sun, in the early evening, they furl their four petals up very neatly and into a tidy funnel-like shapes and thus put themselves to bed. Not so this little cluster of rebels. I reckon they were out frolicking around in the evening and ignored their bed-time call. They were having so much fun that they very nearly missed out on furling up neatly for bed at all. In their rush they hastily and mistakenly furled each poppy petal separately. Thus they created this wild array for me to find alongside the track this morning. Well, that is my story anyway……
