Za'atari Refugee Camp, Jordan

A sobering day in a camp with about 120,000 people who have fled bombing and violence in Syria only to find themselves housed behind barbed wire in the searing heat of the Jordanian desert.

Jordan, Lebanon and other countries bordering Syria have done an amazing job of providing refugee for 2 million people incluidng many children but they desperately need support from the rest of the international community to continue to provide for them.

In a discussion with a group of men,3 month old Sarah was brought in and put into my arms. "What future for Sarah?" asked her emtional grandfather. Then we discussed the problem of rats, snakes, that women don't like going to the wash blocks and latrines at night, and they wondered how long they will live inside this barbed wire whilst they wait for a political solution and peace in the country they long to return to.
