All dressed up

Yesterday we drove through the heavy Friday afternoon traffic for a weekend with very old friends in the Cotswolds. They have moved since we last visited them so we were keen to see their new home. It is stunning, an old farmhouse beautifully transformed into a comfortable home. P, our hostess, has a magic touch with decor and home making and in every corner there is something interesting to see.
P & P took us to a Ploughing Match. It was a country show and the majority of people there were the true farming community rather than visitors who frequent the grander shows. (Yes, I know, we were visitors!) Not only was there the ploughing but arena events including terrier chasing, traction engines and a heavy horse parade. This beautiful creature was pulling a bright yellow restored wagon. Despite their enormous size heavy horses give the impression of being very gentle.
It was a dry day, but very dull. We consider ourselves fortunate if it doesn't rain while we are in the Cotswolds!
