Travel in bed

If you're struck by an evil virus and can't travel yourself you can always read about other people's travels. Per Wästberg's biographic novel about Linnaeus' student, the famous naturalist Anders Sparrman, turned out to be even more fascinating reading than I thought. Anders sailed around the world with Captain Cook and explored Eastern Cape, and he seems to have been a surprisingly nice chap.

Strangely enough, I don't think anyone has translated the book to English yet.

EDIT: We've now found out that it's translated to English and will be published by Granta Books, UK.

The beautiful plant Sparrmannia africana was named to honour Anders Sparrman.
