A Local Landmark

On my way to the local second hand bookshop I passed this well known Paisley landmark. It was the YMCA building and I think they still have use of part of it but it is now also the home of part of West College Scotland. It is their "Fame School" or officially Dance and Performing Arts.

Sadly like so many buildings on the High Street it has an unofficial "roof garden" ie trees growing out of it.

I would like to know why the photographer was able to get his name carved on to the building- his business has long since vanished.

Bought a biographies of Robert Louis Stevenson and Anthony Crosland (once a contender for the leadership of the Labour Party but was defeated by James Callaghan).
