History in the mist.

Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire - looming in the damp and mist of a dismal October day.
It was a toss up as to whether the interior or exterior of the this National Trust property was the gloomier! The inside has to be kept in a permanent state of Stygian gloom to preserve the wonderful tapestries which are a huge and significant part of the property. The room guides are even issued with torches!
Breaking with tradition, I have buggered about creatively manipulated this shot, hoping for a gloomy, slightly sinister look.
I may have to get out more!!
