Whilst the disposable gloves (I bought some ages ago but kept them in the loft for three years, retrieving them the other day when fishing baby clothes back down) were perfect for something low-impact like re-spoking a wheel they were slightly less effective when pissing about trying to remove a sprocket jammed onto a freewheel, up with which I eventually gave. A replacement largest sprocket should allow the rest of it to be used for another thousand miles or so, getting the expected life out of the two rotated chains, but fortunately I'd already bought next spring's new chain and cassette so was able to stick them onto a spare freehub.
