The Press Gang

We pressed the wine today. A cuve-ful of delicious juice and berries were pumped, poured and scooped into our beautiful wooden bucket press - the design as old as the hills. As pressure ratchets down onto the huge mound of berries, the wine pours down the side of the basket into a metal lip, then into a bucket and then it's poured into a fresh new cuve. It's a delightful, satisfying process and our glorious cellar rats today were H and A whose lovely hands are joining 5000vines' here.
It's our very last pressing so it was a bittersweet morning. But mostly sweet.
