Why so sad?

Okay, so spots of rain began to fall as we waited for the DART to take us to our Grand Prix Lunch appointment and we had to shelter, but a few spots of rain can't account for the woe-begone expression of our fellow shelterer. Had there been a falling out, perhaps? Was some money lost? Was the purpose of the forthcoming journey an unhappy one?

Thankfully, our day had begun well, with a waking from a really good night's sleep. And then there was a nice surprise when Robin (The Voice of Irish Motor Sport) was there before us for today's Grand Prix Lunch. He's recently opted out of these get-togethers because there tends to be too much idle chatter and no little attention given to the race for his liking. Robin was very kind to me during my hospitalisation and convalescence, so it was really good to have him with us.

The race was okay, though the track at Valencia is no great shakes, really, and the main incident of interest turned out to be a dreadful mixup in the pits by McLaren. It was great to see Rubens Barichello win, and we raised our glasses to salute his vidtory. Food and drink after the race were up to the host's usual high standards, and it was all in all a most enjoyable day. No word as yet of anyone offering to host next week's Belgian race.

By the way: I've back-blipped yesterday.
