Felting Wool

Today I attended the first part of a class about felting wool into a hat (or whatever). This is the first part of the demonstration, and tomorrow we will each make our own.
These are tufts of unspun wool being placed in seven layers, each placed in the opposite direction. These layers are then massaged by hand until they felt together. There are several more steps to reach a wearable hat!
